Safe mode is a diagnostic mode of your computer’s operating system where you can try to fix most, if not all problems within the operating system.
Back in the day during the days of Windows 7 and earlier versions of Windows, we used to get into safe mode by pressing F8 while our PC boots up. This has changed since the introduction of Windows 8 and the adoption of UEFI.
So here I’ll show you step by step how to get into safe mode in Windows 10.
- Click Start → Power and then hold the Shift key on your keyboard and click Restart.
- Click Troubleshoot.
- Click Advanced options.
- Click Startup Settings.
- Click Restart.
- After your computer restarts, press 5 on your keyboard to select Enable Safe Mode. If you want to enter Safe Mode with Internet access, choose Enable Safe Mode with Networking.
- Enter your username and password to start Windows in Safe Mode with Networking.
