A lot of people has been pirating games and software and it has been a concern to the gaming community so I decided to write this to encourage using legitimate software on PC.
First things first. Before we begin gaming, we need an operating system. If you can’t afford to buy Windows yet, Linux is a good alternative. A Youtube channel called CompTV has a detailed video on using Ubuntu Linux for gaming.
Setting up Linux needs a lot of research but once you get a hang of it, it’s great. Don’t be intimidated because setting it up maybe a little complicated, but learning is fun. And after that, you will feel like an expert because none of your friends had ever set up a Linux gaming PC.
As for games, Steam has a lot of games that’s compatible with Linux. You just gotta search for them.
But If you money and have saved to buy Windows, you can get cheap Windows keys Kinguin.
So for Windows, I came up with a personal favorite’s list of free to play games from Steam
- Dota 2
- Team Fortress 2
- Heroes and Generals
- PlanetSide 2
- Star Conflict
- War Thunder
- World of Tanks
- America’s Army: Proving Grounds
- Art Of War: Red Tides
Next, check out Humblebundle from time to time for free game codes. Sometimes they give away free games. Me so far, I’ve gotten Killing Floor and Shadow Warrior.
Next step is to save up. I have a day job but I still have to save up for my games.
To buy online you need a cash card. I highly recommend using Globe’s GCash because it’s quick and easy to get verified.
To get a GCash card, visit your nearest Globe Store and buy a GCash card for only Php150. Then you will be asked to link it to your phone. Once successful, you can now top up your GCash credits in the Globe store or any other affiliates like 7-11 Stores.
But before you can begin to purchase online, you need to do a “KYC”. You can do this in the Globe store itself and a representative will assist you or you can do it online. Just make sure you have a valid ID. I brought my TIN ID with me when I did my KYC online through facebook.
To do KYC online, just go to www.fb.com/gcashverify and follow the instructions. I was verified within the day I got the card itself. That’s how quick it is. Once done, you can now top up GCash credits and start using it like a regular credit card.
Also, wait for Steam Sale because there a lot of good deals. I think they happen like 5 times a year. I actually bought a ton of games during the last Steam Sale.
